Do I Eat Too Much Sugar?

You don’t need to totally eliminate sugar from your diet like I have.  I get that.

But you probably do need to reduce the amount you eat.

Am I wrong?

How would you know if you need to reduce your sugar intake?

Maybe:

You feel tired all the time, even waking up after a full 8+ hours sleep.

Sugar blocks your hormone receptors, meaning you won’t ‘feel’ what your hormones are trying to tell you. So the hormone that your body releases to tell you you’ve had enough sleep isn’t registered by your body, making you feel tired.  Or if you don’t sleep well at night, it can be for the same reason.

You crave sweet foods and can’t wait to get your next sugary snack down your cake-hole. This was so me!! A sure sign of sugar addiction.

You’re constantly hungry. Again, as sugar blocks your hormone receptors you won’t register the ‘full up’ hormone so will want to continue snacking throughout the day.

You keep getting ill. A single teaspoon of sugar represses your immune system for hours so it’s really worth avoiding anything sweet if you have a cold, even honey. Sugar is sugar after all.

You suffer with headaches/migraines/stomach pain/IBS symptoms. This can be a sign of too much sugar in your diet; the majority of my headaches and IBS symptoms vanished with the reduction of sugar in my diet.

You have thrush/candida and can’t shift it. The candida bacteria feed off of sugar, so they’ll thrive in a sugar rich environment.

You are type 2 diabetic, pre-diabetic or have been diagnosed with ‘non-alcoholic fatty liver’.

Finally the most obvious – you often fancy, crave and eat sweet foods – cake, biscuits, sweets, chocolate and drink juice, soda, add sugar to your tea/coffee.

Perhaps you have no symptoms or reasons for reducing your sugar intake, but it’s just weight loss you’re after?

If so then you’re not only guaranteed to lose weight but your body will also thank you for it.

After any initial cravings/sluggishness subsides, you’ll most probably lose weight from around the middle, the shape of your face will change, your energy levels will rise and your immune system will be a lot stronger.
