Is Dry January worth it?
It’s been 18 months since my last alcoholic drink.
I never intended to stop drinking, and I probably haven’t stopped for ever, but in those last few months of drinking I found that a 48h hangover and being plunged into a really low mood for 2 or 3 days was not equal to enjoying two glasses of wine on a night out.
It just wasn’t worth it.
Just one or two drinks would leave me DEPRESSED for more than 2 days!
My nights out now are just as fun as they ever were and the next day I wake up feeling… normal!
They’re also a LOT less expensive.
I didn’t realise I was joining a growing number of people that are choosing to avoid alcohol.
I usually head out thinking I ‘could’ have a drink, but when I get there I simply don’t want one.
The benefits of avoiding alcohol are many, they are also surprising and are greater than you might think.
